Missa Brevis

I wrote this Missa Brevis in the earlier part of 2020 as a compositional exercise: I challenged myself to write using only four parts with no divisions. It was a break from writing the opera that Sophia Chapadjiev and I were writing at the time and an escape from the rapidly deteriorating situation regarding the outbreak of COVID-19.
 
Each movement of the mass is very short (taking the Brevis part of the title to its natural conclusion) - the Kyrie alone is only half a minute long - and is designed for ease of use within a small choir.
